Challenging harmful and patriarchal gender norms for better mental health and peace and security, amongst women and girls and communities in the Wunlit Triangle

Saferworld

Bodhi undertook an assessment of the outcomes, impact, and interlinkages between approaches regarding conflict, gender-based violence, and mental health in the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) programme, implemented by Saferworld and its partners (Women Development Group, Women in Development, Voice for Change, and Hope Restoration South Sudan). The programme aimed to increase women and girls' access to GBV and MHPSS support, foster community understanding of harmful traditions, and encourage local authorities and CSOs to incorporate women's and girls' priorities into government plans. The methodology relied on qualitative methods, including a desk review of existing literature and primary data collection through key informant interviews and focus group discussions in Warrap and Rumbek. The evaluation assessed the programme against OECD-DAC criteria and incorporated gender and conflict sensitivity throughout. The analysis involved outcome harvesting, whose findings were shared at an outcome harvesting workshop. This assessment was used to guide Saferworld's future programming and organisational learning.
