Bodhi conducted an integrated conflict and political economy analysis of the South Omo Zone in Ethiopia for International Alert, supporting the implementation of the Water, Peace and Security (WPS) project, a collaboration between the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a consortium of six partners including: IHE Delft (lead partner), World Resources Institute, The Hague Center for Strategic Studies, Deltares, Wetlands International and International Alert. The analysis took a gender-sensitive lens to assess key drivers, actors, and dynamics of contention in Ethiopia's Omo-Gibe area, informing the Omo-Gibe Basin development plan and developing capacity-building interventions to address the identified capacity gaps. Bodhi adopted an integrated conflict and political economy analysis approach. The research adopted qualitative research methods, including a review of existing literature, key informant interviews, and focus group Discussions. The use of different data collection methods enabled the triangulation of multiple sources of data, ensuring the findings are accurate and reliable. Bodhi adopted a gender-sensitive, intersectional approach, mainstreaming women’s and gender-based issues in the research.
