Bodhi conducted a learning exercise for Mercy Corps Nigeria's Maida programme, which aimed to reduce conflict through improved livelihoods in Borno state. The exercise involved implementing a large-scale quantitative survey complemented by qualitative interviews. In total, a survey of 466 beneficiaries was carried out across Bama, Biu, Gwoza, Hawul, Jere, Kwaya Kusar, Mafa and Ngala to measure success of two outcome indicators under the Youth Livelihoods component of the programme to empower adolescents and youth as economic actors in their communities. Seven key informant interviews and seven focus group discussions were carried out to support data collection. As a key outcome, our team produced a revised Theory of Change with accompanying indicators to guide future programming. This comprehensive assessment provided valuable insights into the programme's effectiveness in linking livelihood improvements with conflict reduction, offering a foundation for enhancing the programme's impact in Borno state.
