Strategy Playbook on Promoting an Adaptive ASEAN Community of Greater Understanding, Tolerance and a Sense of Regional Agendas among the Peoples of ASEAN

Association of Southeast Asian Nations

Bodhi is delivering a project to create a Strategy Playbook for exploring best practices and set value‐based norms and promoting an adaptive ASEAN community, fostering greater understanding, tolerance, and a sense of regional agendas among the peoples of ASEAN. The locations covered by this project are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. Bodhi is taking a scenario planning approach, encompassing an 'adverse scenario’ in which current fault lines are exacerbated and new ones emerge, and a ’positive scenario’ in which an improved situation is envisaged. It has also adopted a gender-sensitive approach for this project, mainstreaming women’s and gender-based issues and complying with feminist research principles through a participatory research approach. The main elements of this approach include a women-led team, gender-sensitivity and intersectionality, and conflict sensitivity. Bodhi is executing the project through four distinct streams. The first stream involves secondary data collection through an in-depth literature review. This is complemented by three primary data collection streams: key informant interviews (KIIs), focus group discussions (FGDs), and active participation in Project Steering Committee (PSC) meetings.
