Bodhi has been contracted by UNICEF for the "Study on Social and Behavioural Drivers of Birth Registration and Certification in Malawi". The objective of this study is to generate and document evidence that will help inform the design of effective social and behaviour change strategies and interventions aimed at increasing birth registration and birth certificate collection rates among children under the age of five in Malawi, which have ben consistently lower than target rates. Bodhi will employ a comprehensive mixed‐methods approach grounded in feminist research principles and participatory methodologies. Bodhi's analytical framework draws from the socio‐ecological model, examining birth registration behaviours across individual, household, community, and systemic levels. Understanding birth registration as a fundamentally rights-based issue, this study will bring success stories to the forefront, showcasing how families have overcome existing challenges.
