Bodhi assessed community-based child protection mechanisms (CBCPMs) in Somalia for Save the Children. The study focused on their scale, quality, and effectiveness in Somaliland, Puntland, and the Southern States. It explored CBCPMs' roles in addressing child protection issues, gender-based violence, and harmful social norms such as child marriage and FGM. The analysis assessed governance, leadership, and the integration of community-based mechanisms with formal systems, while identifying knowledge gaps to generate evidence-based recommendations for strengthening and scaling sustainable CP approaches. A particular emphasis was placed on examining enablers of the effectiveness of CBCPMs’ work and drawing on global comparative practices to enhance community-based responses. Employing a child rights-based and systems strengthening approach, the assessment provided insights into CBCPMs' integration with formal systems, contributions to prevention and response efforts, and recommendations for sustainability and scalability.
