Bodhi carried out the 'East Africa Fund Evaluation: Restoring Livelihoods in the face of Climate Change and Conflict'. This was an objective and independent evaluation of the livelihood and food security recovery projects that Swiss Solidarity had funded in Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya. A total of 32 projects were funded and the Swiss Solidarity partner NGOs delivered the projects either directly, in partnership with local partners or through a mix of the above. The evaluation was specifically of projects which were designed to restore livelihoods and re-establish food security for the affected people. 68 documents were reviewed, 44 KIIs and 16 FGDs were conducted, and 1,395 quantitative surveys were completed with the project participants. The quantitative data was analysed using Python. The overall objective of the evaluation was to provide input to future interventions which would be more effective, more contextually appropriate and better aligned to the needs and preferences of the affected people. Bodhi employed a rigorous mixed-methods approach to evaluate the effectiveness, relevance and economic sustainability of the livelihood and food security recovery activities funded by Swiss Solidarity in Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya.
